The Presidio Brass
Mathews High School Auditorium

The Presidio Brass performs live musical programs in an engaging way through varied, accessible repertoire and developing close ties with their audiences. Their performances include music as varied as their own personal and musical experiences, ranging in style from the Renaissance to contemporary jazz and film scores.

Their primary focus is to “musicate” children -- the performing arts’ future patrons -- through innovative educational programs that cultivate musical learning, supplement the core curriculum and promote discipline, sensitivity and respect. They encourage musical excellence in students by utilizing lecture-demonstrations and master classes that target individual and sectional development in school music programs.

The Presidio Brass showcases their high artistic quality through recordings of their unique repertoire and by reaching audiences locally, nationally and throughout the world.

Michael Kaeshammer, Jazz Piano

Mathews High School Auditorium

Michael Kaeshammer is one of the most exciting young jazz pianists and vocalists in the country today.  Still in his mid-20s, he has released a series of award-winning, critically acclaimed recordings and has developed a large international following through his dynamic live performances.  Classically trained in Germany, Michael fell in love with boogie-woogie piano at the age of 13.  By age 20, critics were hailing his “prodigious technique and thunderous left hand bass lines in a repertoire of brilliantly reshaped traditional jazz and blues classics.”

T
he Black Mountain Chorus of Wales
Mathews High School Auditorium

Black Mountain Male Chorus of Wales takes audiences on a musical journey through Wales, brilliantly capturing the rich choral tradition of the Welsh people.  Their repertoire includes Welsh classics and lilting ballads, as well as contemporary and American selections.  Drawing upon the finest singers from all corners of the country, the 22-member chorus renders flawless traditional male choral sounds.  Despite its name, the chorus does include one female musician.  Llinos Daniel is the choir’s harpist and soloist.  Her enchanting singing and playing creates a major contrast in texture to the choral sound.  These performers aptly illustrate why Wales is known as “the land of song, a nation of singers.”
